Growing and jumping

These are pictures from our recent holiday in Portugal. Africa was a very enthusiastic jumper on the trampoline, although trying to get her and her sister to jump together without major disputes turned out to be impossible! We had a lovely time and Africa amazed us with her confidence at the bottom of the swimming pool. In fact I think she swims better at the bottom than on the top, which is still pretty well.

Africa is still enjoying school, although today she did tell me that she had been put on the naughty step for humming.... I'm sure if we were still in Hackney no-one would have heard the humming, but in North Oxford, humming is a naughty step offence. Hopefully she'll have learnt her lesson and that will be the end of that. They seem to be good at keeping her interested in lots of things. Reading is slowly starting to fall into place and writing too. Her teacher praised her "intellect" at parents evening, which considering the number of academic's children in the class is very impressive.

Africa is a very keen board game player. We taught her Carcassonne on holiday and she quickly grasped it and wanted to play constantly. She is also a prolific drawer and very affectionate especially to her little brother who has been known to be overwhelmed with the attention, although it is mostly welcome!
