Poor old Affy is becoming one of those never photographed second children! For some reason my hands always seem to be full whenever photo opportunities arise. Perhaps this is because she's always looking like she's about to fall down some stairs and I am paranoid about her getting injured since we had a visit from social services after her last fall!! Of course I don't want her to get hurt again, but this feeling is doubled by the fact that I don't want to have another prying visit!
She is very close to walking and has even taken a step or two between objects, but I think it will be a few more weeks yet before she gets going properly. I finally got around to taking her to swimming lessons and after initial hesitation she's absolutely loving it in the water. This is impressive considering the number of times that the teacher requires that we dunk their heads under water every class!
Affy is still quite a remarkable shrieker - she really does know how to get attention in this household. All our ears are pierced throughout most meal times as she shrieks and demands whatever it is that she can see on the table that she doesn't have. She still doesn't seem that keen on putting much food in her mouth, apart from yoghurt, but she's still growing and strong so I'm sure she'll get there soon enough.
She is also a big giggler, which makes us all smile. Her favourite game is to crawl away from me and Stella when we're trying to get her pyjamas on after bath time. She heads straight for our bed and rolls around in hysterics once she gets there.
We're sleeping a bit better these days too, although I still usually get woken with the first cracks of daylight. Thankfully, the days are getting shorter and I look forward to some nice lie ins in a couple of months (perhaps I should write a couple of decades!).
The picture above is Affy in a life jacket during our very exciting tour around Ramsey Island of St David's, Wales, which we did in a high speed RIB. We were all surprised as the boat sped off, and Tim was tasked with clinging on tightly to Affy, but it was great fun.
